New, hyper-local, weekly farmers market

We are so thrilled to be able to announce a new venture in cooperation with the Harcourt Organic Farming Co-op: a weekly producers market in central Castlemaine.

From 6 November 2019, you’ll be able to get your weekly market basics, including fresh, seasonal vegetables, fruit, bread, dairy, honey, eggs, meat and maybe a few other things, in central Castlemaine on Wednesday afternoons.

It will be local, it will be fresh, it will be delicious. You will be able to shop for what appeals on the day, or pick up online pre-orders.

We'll be encouraging regenerative farmers and providing a launch pad for new farmers and producers. All hyper local. All totally awesome.

Mt Alexander Shire producers will be prioritised, with farmers close by our shire accepted on a case by case basis.

The market will be supported by the Castlemaine Farmers Market Committee and Management and will be accredited with the Victorian Farmers Market Association. OUR REGULAR SUNDAY MARKET WILL REMAIN UNCHANGED!

Expressions of interest are sought from local producers now! Please fill out the form below if you are a producer interested in hearing more about our weekly market.

Expression of Interest

Castlemaine Farmers’ Market is planning an expansion! There are still some hurdles to jump over but our aim is to provide a similar style market to the very popular SAGE Farmers’ Market in Moruya. Please note that some of the details below may change.

The Weekly Market

Our intent is to host a weekly market in/around the Ray Bradfield room and between the old market building and the RSL – i.e. a similar location to the current monthly market.

The market would run every Wednesday from approximately 3.30 pm – 6.30 pm, starting Wed 6 November. This will be in addition to the current Sunday market.

Our goal as a market is to prioritise regenerative practices (eg. Holistic Management, ‘pasture raised’, organic, biodynamic, etc), as well as producers from within Mt Alexander Shire; however, this is not a barrier to participation - all applications will be considered.
We would also like to keep the cost of a stall low in order to provide opportunities for very small-scale producers to access the market. In order to achieve this, we would like to take a collaborative approach where stall holders may have to take on extra responsibility (e.g. a spot on the ‘market manager roster’).

While we will aim to launch the market with low stallholder fees, this may have to be adjusted to ensure we are covering costs.
Please indicate below if you are interested in having a stall at the Weekly Castlemaine Farmers’ Market. Once we have confirmed some more details, we will send out an application form.

Yes! I'm Interested
